Timeline

2018

The First Regional Cross Training Pilot took place on November 2018 at MSMS. There were over 50 attendees from Clinton, Eaton and Ingham counties with specialties ranging from probation officers, physicians, psychiatrist, treatment courts, and community health professionals.

2019

TCHPC started a small pilot that provided an opportunity for Ingham County Treatment Court to connect with a physician to participate in staff meetings. The physician served as an advisor and an acting agent of CEI Community Mental Health.  The consulting physician will be available for one-hour per week remotely.  The court provided the physician with any necessary information in advance of the staffing meeting.

This pilot is currently ongoing. During this pilot, it has been recognized that building the personal connection between the specialty court and CMH has been a valuable process.

2020

TCHPC group received a Health Endowment Fund Grant at the end of 2020, which further the efforts to connect with treatment courts and healthcare professionals throughout Michigan.

The Michigan Health Endowment Fund works to improve the health and wellness of Michigan residents and reduce the cost of healthcare, with a special focus on children and seniors. For more information about the Health Endowment Fund.

2021

TCHPC successfully planned three Regional Cross Trainings in Midland/Saginaw/Bay, Traverse City, and Upper Peninsula. Key topics varied in each region based on the need in their respective communities. Attendees were asked to complete a survey including the overall value of the program on a scale from 1 (least favorable) to 7 (most favorable). The overall program ratings confirmed the trainings were positively received!

2022

TCHPC partnered with Wayne State University’s Center for Behavioral Health and Justice (CBHJ) to facilitate change team meetings within the regions that completed the Regional Cross Training. The purpose of change team meetings is to build upon the information and connections offered in the 2021 training sessions and identify action steps. CBHJ facilitated a 90-minute change team meeting in each region to focus on how participants can implement and sustain change in their communities and initiate best practices and coordination of care for individuals who participate in the treatment court system.
